5 Tips For Gr8 Skin This Fall

We are now in fall which means cozy sweaters, tasty apple treats …. and dry skin. The cooler temperatures tend to dry out our skin which often leaves our skin getting cracked and irritated. This can be quite uncomfortable and even worse; the open tears can allow bacteria to enter your skin barrier.

Here are our tips for Gr8 Skin this fall:

1) Avoid Long Hot Showers

We know hot showers feel so nice on a crisp, cool day, but the hot water from the shower removes oil and moisture from your skin. This causes your skin to become even more dry and irritated. Avoid long harsh showers and moisturize your entire body when getting out of the shower to help repair your skin’s moisture barrier.

2) Use Gentle Exfoliators

When our skin gets drier, we assume the best way to fix this is to use a bunch of different exfoliators to get rid of the dead skin. This, along with the cooler months, increases sensitivity to the skin which in turn can lead to more irritation. We recommend using clay, a gentle exfoliator that rolls over the skin, collecting dead skin as it moves. Try using our Essential Exfoliation Kit which features our CTRL Soothing Mask that uses clay to deeply cleanse and exfoliates skin.

3) Stick to a Balanced Diet

We know that fall has some of the best treats which makes it hard to stick to a healthy diet. It’s ok to occasionally indulge in fall holiday treats but sharp increases in processed foods and refined carbs can cause hormones to spike which in turn makes acne worse.

4) Don’t Forget Your Lips

The skin on your lips is very thin and delicate. In the cooler months, some experience extreme dryness. Some symptoms include flaky skin, cracked skin and bleeding. Try our Gr8 Lips lip balm that has shea butter which delivers moisture while reducing inflammation and soothes skin.

5) Keep Wearing Your SPF

SPF is not just for summer; it should be a staple in your skincare routine year-round. Sun rays can damage skin causing dark spots and potentially even cancer. As mentioned, your skin is more sensitive in the cooler months which is why it’s still very important to be wearing SPF every day! Stock up on your Screen to ensure proper protection year-round!
